Certified Specialist in Orthodontics
During my time in practice, I’ve seen hundreds of hours spent in the waiting room and thousands more hours of missed school, work, social obligations, sports games, and more, as patients rearrange their lives to fit into an office’s busy schedule. I wanted to create a new kind of orthodontic office where the opposite is true: we fit our treatment into our patients’ lives, letting them enjoy all of life’s big moments without any interruption. We believe in prioritizing our patient’s smile and our patient’s time.
Meet Dr. Derek Hou
Dr. Hou is a Vancouver native and moved to the United States for his undergraduate, dental school, and specialty training. After being away for over a decade and living in New York, Boston, Seattle, and Beijing, he decided it was finally time to move back home. He is happy to be back in Vancouver and enjoys rediscovering his hometown. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife Esther, his son Elijah, and their rescue dog Bao.
Education
Dr. Derek Hou is a certified specialist in orthodontics. He first completed dental school and was licensed as a general dentist before going on to do three additional years of specialty training on how to move teeth, how to correct bites, and how the bone and jaw develops. After his specialty training, he has spend hundreds of hours learning how to most efficiently use clear aligners and Invisalign® to achieve the best results. In total, he has completed 11 years of training after high school and puts all of this experience into practice when he helps design the best smiles for our patients.
